Why I love the Mekons No. 486

Here's how they describe their album coming out on Aug 21.

Removed from the restraints of conventional studio technology, the Mekons navigate an undulating sonic landscape of lavish melodies, mantric chants and shimmering acoustic experimentation, all the while displaying the same natural grace and precision that drives the sparkling salmon forever upstream through the fierce current to mate and die.

I haven't gotten through it. But like most of their stuff, it doesn't sound like anything else they've ever done. And there's no easy way to describe it. And it's bound to become more rewarding with repeated listening. I'll have more to say when I can think of answers to the above conundrums.
